I wanted to start with everyone knows macaroni, but discovered a problem.

Czech "makaróny" are tubes, but straight, like Italian "bucatini". They used to be more masive and longer but they evolved in the "bucatini" direction.

The closest thing to Italian "maccheroni" in Czechia are "kolínka" - small knees, which have the curvedness but tend to be shorter than "macheroni".

Now, I have it, that I quite like pasta in general, I like "makaróny", but I do not like "kolínka" very much.

When I started to use the term "macaronic conversation" it were the long and elegant and tasty "makaróny" what was on my mind not the bent, short, messy "kolínka". But the image and taste of these "kolínka" or "maccheroni" coined the term "macaronic language" or "macaronic poetry". Something bent and messy.

For me, macaronic conversation, is an intertwinning of long "makaróny". One "makarón" is Czech, the other Italian, another German, the next one Spanish.

This, in my opinion, corresponds to how it is or should be in a conversation: the speaker "knows what he is saying" and the listener may experience all sorts of errors, distortions, misunderstandings...

For me, it is two different situations.

First

I address, for the first time, someone who speaks Polish. Then, if I can, I use Polish too.

Second

There is an agreement that we will engage in macaronic conversation. Now, we may each try to use the language of the other (Veza way) or we may each use our own language (Tymoty way).

As I suggested above, I believe there is a strong argument for Tymoty's way even in the case of only two participants with two languages. But when three or more languages are involved, it is impossible to use Veza's way. If I am speaking to a group where one speaks German, the second Italian and the third Spanish, I am faced with an impossible choice of whose language to use.

So, to recap: I propose we, in macaronic conversation, each use our own language for writing and we read all the languages of all the other participants, with machine translation, if necessary.

@Veza85UE@eupolicy.social , děkuju moc, že mi píšeš španělsky.

Myslím, že mám docela rozumné důvody, proč používám phpBB fórum "Trojka třetího a Náměstí Praha 3", a v případě zájmu je rád sdělím. Zároveň chápu obtíže s registrací a účastí ve fórech. Povídáme si na Mastodonu a to může pokračovat. Jinak, když Ty nebo někdo jiný mi napíšete "uživatelské jméno", registraci Vám udělám a pošlu přihlašovací heslo, které si můžete hned změnit. Ale není to nijak nutné a stačí, když si povídáme na Mastodonu.

Snad v souladu s Tebou: Ani mně nepřijdou jazyky jako zásadní problém, pokud se to týká "získání informací". Vždycky je někdo, kdo to získá celkem v jakémkoliv jazyku, když v něm ty informace jsou. Mně přijde zásadní: že nějaké stručné a srozumitelné a přitom dostatečné informace nejsou v žádném jazyce.

Ty vnímáš jako zásadní, že všechno prochází národním filtrem, který je kontrolován na národní a regionální úrovni: výuka občanské nauky.

Já bych chtěl tu štíhlou a srozumitelnou Knihu o Evropské unii.

Ty mluvíš o seriálu Brusel. Ta myšlenka se mi moc líbí.

Stejně jako @Pierrette@mastodon.uno často používám "copy paste". Můj oblíbený překladač je https://www.deepl.com/translator . Moje instance Mastodonu ( https://f.cz https://bagarrosphere.fr ) ani zabudovaný překlad nenabízí.

V každém pádě mě zajímají lidé, kteří jsou ochotni a schopni číst v cizím jazyce. Myslím, že tato funkcionalita je dostatečně dostupná různými způsoby tak, aby kdo chce, to zvládl.
